Born into poverty, Andrew Carnegie (1835 - 1919) amassed a fortune in the steel industry and went on to become one of the world's most generous philanthropists, funding more than 3,000 public libraries and countless institutions of higher learning. In his later years, Carnegie divided his time between Skibo Castle, which he bought in his native Scotland, and New York City. A popular fly fishing site, the lochs at Skibo still teem with trout and salmon. Pictured here are Carnegie's favorite rod and flies.
